The Apocalypse - Be Just Like God "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants . . ." Revelation 1:1 "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith - the salvation of your souls." 1 Peter 1:6-9 "When He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe . . ." 2 Thessalonians 1:10 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." Romans 8: 18-21 When I began this series on the life of the age to come, I thought I might explore a bit the meaning of the powers of the age to come as we may come to know them in the future. I soon veered away from that intention because I could see that it would be presumptuous and without purpose. We are not children playing in the marketplace; we are sons of our Father and we are set with unmoving hearts upon the fulfillment of His purpose through us upon this earth. There are many others who can teach better than I on the powers of the age to come revealed now in our lives. May I point you to one such little book? This is by a reader of these letters, Gerald Hawthorne, who lives in the Dallas, Texas area. God has taken this brother to the full edge of Paul's claim in Romans 8 about the sufferings of this present time. He has found Paul to be correct, the suffering is not worthy to be compared with His glory in us. Brother Gerald has shared with me a number of times how God has taught him through these letters I share. It is to me a great privilege to have some small part in the life of one whom God is preparing in ways we cannot comprehend for the revelation of Jesus Christ. You can obtain a copy of his book here. http://www.publishamerica.net/product88512.html The whole purpose of the life of the age to come revealed in us now is the one event, the one reality, the one overwhelming purpose that has been the grip and the passion of my heart and soul, now, for over 33 years - the unveiling, the revelation, the apocalypse of Jesus Christ. It is this that I have devoted my life to; it is this that all of my writing and sharing is about. The Lord Jesus Christ revealed openly upon this earth through you and through me in all fullness. One of my students asked me, "What would you do if Jesus walked through that classroom door right now?" I said, "He has. He came into the room in you." The look on his face said that he knew it was true in a "Christian" sort of way, but not really what he was after. But that's the whole point. How would you recognize Him? How would you know it was Jesus and not someone else? There are no lightning bolts, no grand heavenly music accompanying Him. He comes in as just an ordinary man, no beard, short hair, a simple button-collar shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. If He said, "Hi class, I am Jesus," with no evidence whatsoever, would you believe Him? Everyone is looking for Superman, especially today. Yes, the Jews of Jesus' day were also looking for Superman. They rejected Jesus because He was ordinary, one of them. They knew his family; they had watched Him grow up from a child. But today, we are looking for Superman far more than they were. If God gave them a man, and not a superman, then, why would He give us a superman now and not a simple, ordinary man just like Jesus? Yet our desire for Superman is overwhelming. We want power. We want open demonstration of superiority. We want blazing proof that we were right after all. We want thunderbolts coming out of his ---. (Forgive my French - I'm trying to get at the core of our false image of the messiah.) God is so backwards from man, so upside down, so inside out. He will never give them what they expect. Never! God commands us to be just like God over and over through the New Covenant from Matthew to Revelation. Let me list as many of them as I can remember. Be perfect just as your Father is perfect. At least twelve times! God does not play games with us; He does not say things He doesn't mean, or fill His word with cryptic sayings that are "not meant for us here and now." I reject utterly any such definition of God. I reject the belief that we are to apply these commands of God to our in-part lives in an in-part way, waiting for some future age after we die and go to heaven to know the fullness of what God meant. I reject any theology that does not bring God into full victory and triumph inside the mud and the sweat and the blood of the physicality of this earth and in the human lives of those who believe what they do not see. If God said it in His Word to me spoken through men upon this earth, then it must be fulfilled in me in fullness and not in part, in earth and not in heaven, in this age and not in the age to come. There must be a second witness of Christ through me upon this earth. Otherwise His word is not true, we are yet in our sins, and it would be far better to eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we will die! Let God be true and every man a liar! But of course, we cannot be just like God in all fullness ourselves. That's the whole point. Only God can be God. But we know that He reveals Himself as God through us. We need power. Peter says that we need power to know the revelation of Jesus Christ - not thunderbolt power, but the power of God - GRACE. Peter said set your hope, your heart, your face, fully on the GRACE that has not yet come to you. This is the grace of fullness. Right now, I call those things that be not as though they are. I speak, "I love as God loves, I overcome as God overcomes, I am holy as God is holy." I speak these things in faith believing what I cannot see. God always leads me right now to dance in full celebration of a victory I have not yet experienced. But my heart, my hope, my expectation is set fully on a GRACE that is right now coming out of the very bosom of Almighty God that must come upon me that I may know God as He speaks in all fullness and in all perfection right here and right now. Grace requires weakness. No weakness, no grace. The Messiah of God is the very opposite of the superman of man. This is the power of the age to come. It is the power of tenderness, the power of touch, the power of a cup of cold water, the power that opens blind eyes, that sets the captives free. It is real power. It is to know the Father. Love walking upon the earth, outwardly the lowest of the low, inwardly the King of Heaven. Christ in us in all fullness. Christ who condemns no one - except those who condemn, and that only to bring them to their senses, for they can condemn only themselves. The unveiling of Jesus Christ is cataclysm. There are many throughout the churches today who are attempting to remove the Revelation given to John on the island of Patmos from being a personal word to us fulfilled now in fullness and in the fullness of times in which we live. You cannot have Christ without cataclysm. You cannot have light without darkness being revealed. You cannot have victory without the shattering of heaven and earth. Everything John saw is nothing more than what happens in the darkness as the light turns on. Let's present some absolute facts of human reality. Adam chose the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because the serpent magnified the GOOD and whitewashed the evil. Adam chose what was good. God, in His mercy and love, with His eye completely on the redemption that would come and His intention to reveal Himself through man, placed upon Adam and his seed a seven-fold curse. But inside that curse, the two primary parts of the curse, the subjection of all creation to vanity, are death and human government. God spoke through the mouth of King Nebuchadnezzar that He chooses who will sit upon the thrones of men and when He makes His choice, He always finds the very worst, the basest of men to place into human government, including all Presidents of the United States. The history of human government upon this earth, especially modern political government, is the story of the psychopaths, the men without conscience or sense of humanity, clawing their way to the top. Almost the only men who ever make it there are the men who have sold themselves for power over others. And even the handful who were "good" (David, Alfred, possibly George Washington, I know of hardly any others) used their power wrongfully, bringing death and grief into the lives of many. The revelation of Christ through us comes into this earth doing two things. First, it casts off the curse that sits upon creation, and second, it cuts out of the hearts and experience of man the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and evil. But here is the problem no one can deny. Look out around you at the world in which you live. What is it that people love? Human achievement. And what do they look to as the answer for all the problems of the world? Human government. Yet God says that all creation will be set free into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Does that mean that everyone will wake up one day and think, "Oh my, I was wrong about everything. I realize now that these radical Christians - who said that America, the exaltation of human achievement and human "GOODness," was the curse of God upon this earth - were completely right"? Hardly. All mankind, including almost all Christians, love the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and evil and the achievement of modern political, democratic human government more than life itself. They will kill you rather than let it go. Some have the incredible notion that the sons of God will fit themselves into the systems of this world and slowly transform things from the inside out, making life in this world just get better and better until it gradually becomes all that God intended. Why, then, does the very opposite seem to be happening? How, then, do we see human government rising to its fullness in today's world instead of slowly diminishing away? Why, then, do Christians in America want the government to grow even more so that, when they get their hands on that power they can use it for "good"? How is it that things are screwing up towards the very opposite of this gradual transformation? How is it that every element of the revelation the Lord Jesus gave to John stands in all fullness upon the earth today? If you have read this far, I strongly urge you to read the following article. This is real. God has placed us in this earth at this time to deal with what is real and not to build theological citadels to escape the revelation of Christ into the darkness. The Beast of Revelation 13 IS modern human government as we know it today, including the entire governmental system of the United States. The head of the Beast that was wounded to death but now lives IS the nation and government of Israel, the false fulfillment of a "natural" and false gospel. The false prophet includes two things among others. It includes the power of science to convince man by its miraculous abilities. Who is not convinced by science? Science causes fire to fall from heaven upon the earth in great destructive power. Science creates fantastic things including an image that speaks and causes men to act as the greatest change agent of history, the television set. Science is the first power on earth to give a "convincing" argument why there is no need for God. You see, everyone is looking for Dracula in the same way that everyone is looking for Superman. The citizens of Moscow in 1812 were busy proving that Napoleon was, in fact, the Antichrist. They would have killed you as a blasphemer against God if you had suggested that their beloved Czar, Alexander, and the entire system of what was the Russian empire, including the hierarchy of the Russian Church, was equally anti-Christ. Just as there is no Superman coming, so there is no Dracula, either. Just as Christ is revealed in the simple, the weak, and the mundane, so anti-Christ is found only in the common, the ordinary, and the very, very familiar. Both have been true all down through the present age of the church. And the false prophet includes that spirit moving through the church of Christ that waves the flags of the Beast and that exalts the modern nation of Israel as if such could possibly be the anointed of the Lord! "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming." 2 Thessalonians 2:8 The idea that the transformation of this world will come gradually, bit by bit, as Christians move into the systems of this world and speak positive thinking into them does not come from the New Testament. I do not find any such thing presented there, anywhere. From beginning to end, I find the opposite. The revelation of Jesus Christ is a cataclysm. Turning the lights on in our heavens causes the darkness to flee into the physicality of the earth. Why do I, according to the commandment of the Holy Spirit, look forward to the dissolution of the United States of America and its government? Why do I, according to the commandment of the Holy Spirit, look forward to the end of that false thing that men call Israel but that the Spirit calls Sodom and anti-Christ? Why do I, according to the commandment of the Holy Spirit fulfilled in me, look forward with great anticipation to the failure of all human achievement and of all human government upon this earth? Because I love God's people. Because I love the people of this world. Because I love the earth and all of God's creation. Because God is love in me. Because I want the age of human folly to end. I want my children to live their lives free of the horrors of demonic assault and human darkness. I want my grandchildren to grow up in the joy of the age to come. Look back at your life. How many times did God bring you to failure just before He revealed the next precious thing of Himself to you? I can count those times by the dozens in my own life. In the same way, God brings to total and utter failure all that is man upon this earth. That is how His GRACE moves into the hearts of men. In my last letter, "Do Not Love the World," I said that I did not understand the contradiction that I see in God's word and in His church. That was the human reason part of me. Our humanity in itself is not a problem, it is the backdrop against which God reveals the life of His Son. But another part of me does know the answer to that contradiction. God brings everything to complete failure that He might show mercy upon all. No flesh will glory in His sight. No one will ever say, "Look, we did it." Grace becomes our life when we no longer have to be or do anything. Thus God allows all to "blow it" completely. Every single Christian will discover that they themselves, personally, were the ones who got it wrong. And God has an order for the revelation of Himself. He begins with a firstfruits, a seed; then when that seed is complete, He brings into the revelation of Christ all who belong to Jesus. Finally, in the ages to come, He brings all creation into subjection to the Lord Jesus Christ. But God will never redeem the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and evil; He will never breathe life into it bit by bit. The fullness of Christ upon this earth means the end of all human goodness and all human achievement. The fullness of Christ upon this earth causes the end of all human goodness and all human achievement. The world instinctively knows that this is so, even though the church in the world does not. Human goodness is the fall; human achievement is the curse. But all this is but the backdrop, the background, the context against which the most incredible, awesome, unbelievable, HOLY, grand, beyond all human or angelic comprehension ever in all the vast avenues of the universe, beyond, beyond, beyond ALL knowledge, this experience that is coming right now upon you and upon me. The unveiling of Jesus Christ. From The Jesus Secret by Daniel Yordy - Jesus Is Unveiled In Me; The Greek word apokalupsis means "to take off the cover." It is usually translated in the New Testament as "revelation/revealed" or "manifestation/manifested." The book we call "Revelation" is really "The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ." It is a very specific Greek word with a very specific meaning. Each time it is used in the New Testament, that verse is central to the plan and purpose of God. Each time it is used, it is talking about the same event. The Apokalupsis of Jesus Christ. An excited crowd filled the seats of the auditorium in an ancient city. There was no one, as yet, on the stage in front of them, only a large lumpy object covered by a gray, nondescript, and bulky cloth. But though they could not see what was beneath that cloth, every audience member had a notion of what it might be. Rumors had circulated throughout the city for months. The master sculptor was finishing his magnum opus, his greatest work. What would it look like? Whose image would it bear? Then two men walked out from behind the stage. The great Master of Ceremonies, dignified, eloquent, and beside him a scrawny little man who didn't look like much - but everyone knew who he was. The two men stood, one on each side of the lumpy figure on the stage. The Master of Ceremonies began by praising the sculptor, telling the history of all his wondrous works. The MC built his crescendo well, leading up to this, the greatest and most glorious of all the master sculptor's works, the pinnacle of his skill and success. The two men grabbed each a side of the cloth covering the master's work and pulled it back. The crowd rose to its feet in unison, wonder and acclaim in every voice. That which was there in their midst all along, but seen fully by no one, was now revealed in the full light of day. There, revealed for all to see, was the sculpture of a man, shaped and polished as the very image and likeness of God, with the glory of God upon his face. God takes the cover off Jesus in me! Webster's 1926 "reveal" - That which has been concealed and kept secret - Jesus - is made known in me. Christ is unveiled, disclosed, divulged in me. Jesus is made clear, displayed, shown in me. Christ is communicated by divine power through me. Webster's 1926 "unveil" - God removes the veil covering Jesus in me. God uncovers the secret of Christ in me. God discloses to view Jesus in me. God reveals Christ in me. Jesus makes Himself known in me. Webster's 1926 "manifest" - God makes Jesus evident to the senses through me. God makes Christ apparent and distinctly perceived through me. God makes Jesus obvious to the understanding, evident to the mind, and easily apprehensible through me. God makes Christ open, clear, apparent, visible, plain, unmistakable, indubitable, indisputable, evident, self-evident in me. God shows Jesus plainly, makes Him appear distinctly, in me. God puts Christ beyond question or doubt in me. God displays, exhibits, reveals, proves, evinces, evidences Jesus in me. I am the public declaration of Christ. Jesus is revealed in me.
The Jesus Secret is secret no more. ******** My focus in these letters continues to be a drawing from my present understanding of the Great Story of God. Beginning with The Second Witness of Christ and moving through The Life of the Age to Come, I now see that I need to carefully develop from the New Testament a full understanding of this truth, The Unveiling of Jesus Christ. When we understand the purpose and intention of God through us, then all of His Word comes into focus and meaning. We are seized in the grip of His determination. The fullness of times is upon us. The deepest and most holy heart of Almighty God is coming upon us and within us. Our hearts burn with expectation. We shout, "No limit, God, no limit!" We believe all that He speaks. We have ceased seeing any part of ourselves in any way separate from Him. "Here am I, I, and the children whom You have given Me. Behold, in the volume of the book it is written of Me. I have come to do Your will." Blessings, Daniel Yordy |
